The World St. Thomas More Society: A Catholic Apostolate for Human Life, True Marriage, Family and Chastity
Special Lenten message from Mr. Little
Week 1 - Ash Wednesday, February 25, 2009

Dear Fellow Catholic,

Lent is upon us. What should we do? I believe that the world's present economic, political, environmental chaos, with false leaders, terrorism, growing wars and violent religious divisions are directly connected to the genocidal holocaust of the unborn, the poorest of the poor. The devil wants to make murderers. And how complicit are we when we pray for life and pay for death with our taxes?

We have debauched ourselves with abortion, contraception, same-sex "marriage", free wheeling lust, porn, co-habitation, false sex-education. The evil of abortion alone, murdering our own offspring is so gravely evil that God our Father may finally be fed up with us; His mercy is inexhaustible, but even God cannot forgive unrepentant sinners.

He will allow the folly of our self destructive and murderous ways to befall us imminently if we do not truly turn away very soon from our sins and with love and mercy help our lost brothers and sisters to do the same. Jesus restrains the Father's arm of justice by his call to Divine Mercy. On November 11th, 2008 during my holy hour, I received absolute confirmation from the Holy Spirit that the wrath of God is imminent unIess we seriously change. My holy hours often extend to three or more hours and that day I was fighting discouragement, having lost my first court appeal. For a history of my court case see News on this site.

With Scripture readings, I begin at a particular book of the Old Testament, in this case from the Apocrypha, the 1st Book of Maccabees. Then I read a book from the Epistles or Acts or Revelation, and finally I end with a reading from the Gospel. On November 10th, I had ended as I always do with where I feel it fitting, in that case it ended with 1 Mac 1:40, which tells about the beginning of the reign of Antiochus Epiphanes, the arch-prototype of the Anti-Christ, the man or perdition we read about in Revelation. The important thing to remember is that my readings are always chosen by providence, one cannot in advance decide what you will find in any given reading as it depends entirely on what was read the day before.

After the emotional and spiritual assault of so summarily losing the appeal of QB on October 24th/08 before Judge McLellan, I had come to a point where I begged the Lord for an answer from the Holy Spirit as to why this had happened. It was phrased on November 11th in my regular prayers and my spontaneous prayers before the tabernacle alone in my parish Church of the Sacred Heart. I pray aloud and read aloud and speak spontaneously aloud to the Lord, truly Present in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. I said to Him, to paraphrase: "How can it be that I am so alone in this battle Lord? Why, oh why, am I the only one doing this? Perhaps I am deceiving myself and those who think I am a fool are right. Out of 32 million people in Canada, can I be the only one who is right? Please show me today in my prayers, I need to know, please give me a clear answer. I am sorry to ask this, for you have constantly shown me so many times that You are with me. Please have mercy on me and show me today, perhaps in your Sacred Scriptures that I am certainly on the path you have set me upon! Please Lord, Most Holy Spirit, oh please reveal to me the truth, as I am so disconsolate."

Beginning of reading of Scripture1 for my holy hours of November 11, 2008 (11/11/08 Remembrance Day or Armistice Day)

1 Maccabees, Chapter 1 beginning with verse 41: (the emphases are mine of course)

[41] Then the king wrote to his whole kingdom that all should be one people,
[42] and that each should give up his customs.
[43] All the Gentiles accepted the command of the king. Many even from Israel gladly adopted his religion; they sacrificed to idols and profaned the sabbath.
[44] And the king sent letters by messengers to Jerusalem and the cities of Judah; he directed them to follow customs strange to the land,
[45] to forbid burnt offerings and sacrifices and drink offerings in the sanctuary, to profane sabbaths and feasts,
[46] to defile the sanctuary and the priests,
[47] to build altars and sacred precincts and shrines for idols, to sacrifice swine and unclean animals,
[48] and to leave their sons uncircumcised. They were to make themselves abominable by everything unclean and profane,
[49] so that they should forget the law and change all the ordinances.
[50] "And whoever does not obey the command of the king shall die."

[51] In such words he wrote to his whole kingdom. And he appointed inspectors over all the people and commanded the cities of Judah to offer sacrifice, city by city.
[52] Many of the people, every one who forsook the law, joined them, and they did evil in the land;
[53] they drove Israel into hiding in every place of refuge they had.

[54] Now on the fifteenth day of Chislev, in the one hundred and forty-fifth year, they erected a desolating sacrilege upon the altar of burnt offering. They also built altars in the surrounding cities of Judah,
[55] and burned incense at the doors of the houses and in the streets.
[56] The books of the law which they found they tore to pieces and burned with fire.
[57] Where the book of the covenant was found in the possession of any one, or if any one adhered to the law, the decree of the king condemned him to death.
[58] They kept using violence against Israel, against those found month after month in the cities.
[59] And on the twenty-fifth day of the month they offered sacrifice on the altar which was upon the altar of burnt offering.
[60] According to the decree, they put to death the women who had their children circumcised,
[61] and their families and those who circumcised them; and they hung the infants from their mothers' necks.
[62] But many in Israel stood firm and were resolved in their hearts not to eat unclean food.
[63] They chose to die rather than to be defiled by food or to profane the holy covenant; and they did die.
[64] And very great wrath came upon Israel.

Wow, I thought, this is horrific, what they did to the babies and their mothers, and yet we are doing worse. Killing the babies by the tens of millions every year and killing the consciences of the mothers.

The next reading began with Revelation 12, 1-12

[1] And a great portent appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars;
[2] she was with child and she cried out in her pangs of birth, in anguish for delivery.
[3] And another portent appeared in heaven; behold, a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems upon his heads.
[4] His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to bear a child, that he might devour her child when she brought it forth;
[5] she brought forth a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne,
[6] and the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, in which to be nourished for one thousand two hundred and sixty days.
[7] Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought,
[8] but they were defeated and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.
[9] And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world -- he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
[10] And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.
[11] And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.
[12] Rejoice then, O heaven and you that dwell therein! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!"

I had never before seen such a clear confluence of pro-life issues in two readings....Maccabees talking about "a sinful root, Antiochus Epiphanes, and in v61, and they hung the infants from their mothers' necks. And in Mac. 1,64 - And very great wrath came upon Israel.

And now in Revelation 12,4 the dragon, Satan himself, in a clear pre-figure of the ultimate evil of abortion, "And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to bear a child, that he might devour her child when she brought it forth;" and in verse 12, "But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!"

By now I am fully aware that God is telling me in no uncertain terms that I am on the right path, and that He has set me on this path to fight for him as did the Maccabeeans, that if this grave and heinous evil of abortion and its related sexual evils are not ended, very great wrath indeed will befall all of humanity.

I could not wait to read my Gospel passage of the day. It turned out to be the most certain confirmation of all.

The previous day on the 10th of November I had noted of course the similarity of what we do when compared with the parable of the Good Samaritan. A lawyer of the Pharisee party who had posed the question, "desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" and Jesus answered by offering the parable and asking the question, in Lk.10,

[36] Which of these three, do you think, proved neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?"
[37] He said, "The one who showed mercy on him." And Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."

Of course one can readily see our work as that of the Good Samaritan. But I ended the reading on November 10th there, because the next verse began on an entirely different subject. So on November 11th, I began here:

[38] Now as they went on their way, he entered a village; and a woman named Martha received him into her house.
[39] And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching.
[40] But Martha was distracted with much serving; and she went to him and said, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me."
[41] But the Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things;
[42] one thing is needful. Mary has chosen the good portion, which shall not be taken away from her."

This was so very heartening to me, because this is exactly what I do every day in my holy hours. I sit before the Lord to be fed by His Word, and listen to His teaching through my prayers and often long silences. But I was utterly unprepared for what came next as I continued with Luke 11.

[1] He was praying in a certain place, and when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples."
[2] And he said to them, "When you pray, say: "Father, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come.
[3] Give us each day our daily bread;
[4] and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive every one who is indebted to us; and lead us not into temptation."
[5] And he said to them, "Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, `Friend, lend me three loaves;
[6] for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him';
[7] and he will answer from within, `Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything'?
[8] I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him whatever he needs.
[9] And I tell you, Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
[10] For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
[11] What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent;
[12] or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?
[13] If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

Of course, two of my four perpetual daily Novenas are based literally on verses 9 and 10. I have said these Novena prayers since 1978, many, many times, especially in the Efficacious Novena to the Sacred Heart which St. Padre Pio prayed daily for his spiritual children when he was alive. I was one of his spiritual children, beginning in 1978.

But what really astounded me was verse 13. I have often read and re-read this chapter countless times but I never before understood what was meant by the Holy Spirit in the context of this verse. That day I fully understood. because at the beginning of that day I had begged God the Holy Spirit, to show me at all costs that I was on the right path. And when I read, "how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" I knew now beyond any doubt whatever and forever that I was most definitively on the RIGHT PATH.

It could not have ever been a clearer answer to my prayer. And it was all done solely by His Divine Providence; He knew that I was going to arrive at the Church before Him in the Tabernacle, morose and disconsolate, discouraged and desperate. At the start of the holy hour, I begged God the Holy Spirit to show me the TRUTH of whether I was misguided or on the path of His way. And He chose to use Sacred Scripture, and more, Catholic interpretations of those very scriptures that I was to read, which He foreknew I would read.

I was fighting against the greatest evil on earth. The murder of innocent babies. I was fighting the dragon. I was given the Holy Spirit because I had prayed so hard and so sincerely for just that confirmation and God the Father gave the Holy Spirit to me, little David, because I asked Him with a sincere and pure heart. It was confirmed, I WAS ALONE, BUT I WAS ON THE RIGHT PATH, THE PATH HE HAD CHOSEN FOR ME ALONE IN THIS COUNTRY.

I was so elated and full of joy, it was a real ecstasy, I all but danced before the Tabernacle, alone in the Church. I did sing to Him. I went home filled with excitement and joy, called the whole family together and announced in detail what had happened at my holy hour!
It was one of the greatest revelations I have ever been blessed with.

I will never question His call again. Thanks be to God. He has chosen a stupid and sinful little man of no importance. But He knows what He is doing.

But God calls each of us to Him each day. "You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (Matt. 5,48 RSV) I bet you want to be a Saint. I truly want to become a Saint. Will you join me seriously, and become a Saint? May God our Father, our Lord Jesus Christ, the Most Holy Spirit, through the intercession of Mary Most Holy give me the wisdom to choose the right words to you. Please click here: if you wish to learn more of me, before you read this.

This letter comes as a result of 30 years of prayer. In 1976 I began a brief correspondence relationship with Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, the famous American Catholic television preacher of the 1960's. I soon began to imitate his daily Holy Hour before the Tabernacle. This changed everything for me.

For many years I have been horrified that Christendom is dying especially in Europe and North America, victims of the evil one's plan of subtle lies and deception. For me it began in 1960 with the introduction of the "Pill". I knew that contraception was gravely evil and would lead to perilous changes in the souls of men. The pill led immediately to increased fornication, adultery, divorce, sexual perversion and great wounds in the Church. Rebellion against Humane Vitae within was a great victory for Satan. 1968 was a watershed year for Satan. For the first time since the dawn of Protestantism, large numbers of liberal bishops and priests publicly questioned the Pope's authority. At the time, Pope Paul VI said the "smoke of Satan is within the Church." This confusion caused mortal harm to the Sacrament of Confession. Even God cannot forgive an unrepentant sinner. Priests left en-masse. Religious sisters and nuns abandoned their vows or died off. Vocations died. Churches emptied. Pride and lust had conquered Christendom. Secular humanism, relativism prevails to this day. Christendom is dead and buried.

It will rise again, as you and I become Saints.

In the age of Arianism of the early 4th century, where some scholars estimate 75% of the bishops abandoned the Church, it was left to holy laity to remain faithful to the few bishops loyal to the See of Peter. Saints were needed, and God did not disappoint. Hundreds of years later, after he converted from Anglicanism, John Henry Newman wrote this when made a Cardinal, May 12, 1879: "For thirty, forty, fifty years I have resisted to the best of my powers the spirit of liberalism in religion. Never did holy Church need champions against it more sorely than now, when, alas! it is an error over spreading, as a snare, the whole earth. Liberalism in religion is the doctrine that there is no positive truth in religion, but that one creed is as good as is inconsistent with any recognition of any religion as true... revealed religion is not a truth but a sentiment and a taste; not an objective fact, not miraculous, and it is the right of each individual to make it say just what strikes his fancy." One day soon, Pope Benedict will beatify this Venerable holy man. 130 years later in 2009, this truth is abundantly clear by all accounts; Holy Mother Church needs champions; valiant, heroic, brave Saints more than ever before.

I became involved in fighting for the Church's teachings on the dignity of human life, family, marriage, chastity and our Holy Catholic Faith full time in 1982. After months of daily Mass and a following Holy Hour, in March of 1984 I called Mother Teresa on the telephone. She answered the phone. She invited me to Rome. After we talked for two hours, she sent me to the Pope. I became friends with both of these holy souls until they died. This is all miraculous. I am nobody, a worthless sinner.

King David is my patron. I am little, like him, by surname. God has called me to lead; yet I am a great sinner like David. Through the grace of God, like King David, I have learned that heartfelt repentance is everything. I travelled on a road to the heights of holiness when I was 19. I became very, very close to God, through our Lady during the lent of 1964. I was full of zeal, energy and love for the Lord. Miracles entered my life. Yet, having no spiritual director, after a temptation to return to the world, I fell away from holiness and into sin. In 1976 after my contact with Archbishop Sheen, I began to return.

The only thing that matters is holiness. The only tragedy is not to become a Saint. One can be supremely happy, fully at peace here on earth, even begin heaven here and now if one will decide, truly decide, to be a Saint. Now. I call you to join me now. Become a Saint. Pray seriously, fast seriously, give alms seriously. Prayer, fasting and almsgiving are the Chief Apostolic Works of the Church. It is the path of Saints.

Become a Knight or Lady of The World St. Thomas More Society. With God's grace and your help, it will soon become the The St. Thomas More Society of every country founded through Christendom. Pray, fast and give alms seriously with me. Write to me. Email me. Telephone me.

We can and will be the Saints of the last days. I am bold to ask this of God; foolish, some say. But I believe St. Teresa of Avila who said, "You pay God a compliment by asking great things of Him."

I am fighting a major constitutional court case against tax-funded abortion in Canada. We murder more than 100,000 poor children by abortion every year, paid with our income tax. After a prolonged confession in St. Peter's Basilica in 2001, I decided firmly never to file my tax returns again until the law prohibits tax funded abortion. I will go to jail for the rest of my life if I lose this case, as I have solemnly vowed never to file a tax return again until the law is changed. I will win in court or I will win in jail. Because with the tried and true practices of the Saints, I am determined to become a Saint.

Lent is upon us. Let's take a look at its meaning. Lent is 40 days and includes 5 Sundays and Palm Sunday to Holy Saturday- a total of 46 days. The 40 weekdays are a traditional number of discipline, devotion, and preparation days in the Bible. Moses stayed on the Mountain of God 40 days (Ex 24:18, 34:28). Because of disobedience the people of God wandered in the wilderness for 40 years before entering the Holy Land; even though lost, they were never more than 3 days from the Jordan! It took those years of wandering to become a people and let go of habits formed while living in slavery. Elijah traveled 40 days before he reached the cave where he had his vision (1 Kings 19:8), Nineveh was given 40 days to repent (Jon 3:4), and most importantly, prior to undertaking his ministry, Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness praying and fasting (Matt 4:2). And he remained with his disciples 40 days after his resurrection before ascending to his Father.

Since Lent is a period of prayer, fasting and almsgiving to the poor, it is fitting for Christians to imitate their Lord with a 40-day period. Christ used a 40-day period of prayer and fasting to prepare for his ministry, which culminated in his death and resurrection, and thus it is fitting for Christians to imitate him with a 40-day period of prayer and fasting to prepare for the celebration of his ministry's climax, Good Friday (His crucifixion) and Easter Sunday (His Resurrection).

If our Jewish forefathers wandered in the desert for 40 years to let go of habits lived in slavery, how much more do we need to let go of habits formed in our slavery to sin?

Thus the Catechism of the Catholic Church states: "'For we have not a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tested as we are, yet without sinning' [Heb 4:15]. By the solemn forty days of Lent the Church unites herself each year to the mystery of Jesus in the desert." (CCC 540). This means you and I must, if we are serious at all, must unite ourselves to this mystery of Jesus in our own desert. For the reward will be great indeed. Far greater than the sacrifice offered.

But it is no mystery why Jesus chose 40 days of prayer and fasting in the desert and was tested (tempted) by the devil. And what was the result for Christ when he ended his fast? Scripture gives the answer:

"And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee..."(Luke 4:14)

In fact we too will return from our 40 days "in the power of the Spirit." Real power. The power of great holiness, the power of Christ, the power of Saints!

Jesus confronted his human nature in those 40 days, and through prayer and fasting conformed that nature to his Father's will. As everything Jesus did and said is meant for us to conform ourselves to him in imitation, our 40 days is a call to confront our human nature and overcome Satan using the same means, serious prayer and fasting, to avoid becoming a victim of the devil.

How does one fall victim to the devil ?

Listen to the Chief Exorcist of Rome, Fr. Gabriel Amorth: "We can fall foul of the exceptional evils sent by the Devil for four reasons: if it works to the good of the person (in the case of many saints); persisting irreversibly in sin; because of a curse via the Devil; or by practicing occultism." (I will be returning to this subject in my next letter; see LENTEN MESSAGE 2, next Wednesday here.)

Notice the first... "if it works to the good of the person (in the case of many saints)"; we need not be afraid whatsoever to obtain the 'good' of our person in this way. St. John Vianney, the Curé of Ars (1786-1859) was told by Satan himself after constant decades of lost battles to this Saint, "If there were three such priests as you, my kingdom would be ruined." How about 12 lay persons?

The Saint, for his part, developed a remarkable sense of humor about the supernatural assaults, saying, "Oh! the grappin" - his nickname for the Devil - "and myself? We are almost chums."

Satan is a liar and a murderer from the beginning. He is a mere creature. God plus one is a majority. One soul in God can overcome him easily. Our Blessed Mother is the terror of demons. God is All. Satan is nothing. I can become like Jesus Christ. Here and now. So can you. Let us do it together. Let us become the Champion Knights and Ladies of the King of Kings! Let us die if need be for our faith. Or at least risk losing our freedom in confronting governments who force us to pay for abortion. Pray with us, seriously. Fast with us seriously; if medical necessity prohibits you from fasting from food, fast from other pleasures and likes. And give alms to the St. Thomas More Society. Sacrificially. Give as Mother Teresa told me, "Give from your substance not your surplus, that is where true holiness and joy is found."

The World St. Thomas More Society will build with God's Grace and YOUR help, as His steward, a multi-million dollar fund to proclaim, promote, protect and defend innocent human life, true marriage, and purity and chastity throughout the entire world.

Pope Benedict XVI said in his Lenten Message last year, "Almsgiving helps us overcome this constant temptation, teaching us to respond to our neighbor's needs and to share with others whatever we possess through divine goodness."

The Lenten season is a time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, which aid in an "inward cleansing" that allows the Christian to welcome Easter with renewed spirit, Benedict said.

Almsgiving is traditionally meant to give to the poor. Yet as Mother Teresa said the poorest of the poor are clearly the unborn. I have reflected many times on the poverty of the unborn. This year, Pope Benedict XVI said this at the Vatican on January 1, 2009, the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God and World Peace Day:

"The extermination of millions of unborn children, in the name of the fight against poverty, actually constitutes the destruction of the poorest of all human beings."

Our unborn brothers and sisters suffer the utmost poverty, poverty of visibility, poverty of presence, poverty of voice, of decision, poverty of choice or free will, of vote, of self-defense, poverty of real stand in their stead defense by others, and though they suffer other impoverishments, the worst is poverty of love.

I have worked almost totally full time for innocent life in the womb since 1981 as an active pro-lifer. See Bio here I am convinced that the pro-life movement has failed utterly to stop abortion for one main reason: we do not love our unborn brothers and sisters as we ought. 1 John 3:16 says, "By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers."

They don't throw us to the lions anymore. Our lives are rarely at risk in western Christian countries. But we can risk our freedom for them at the very least. I believe it is time to risk all we can for them, for how much would we hope others would do for us if you or I were threatened with murder in the womb? As for arguments referencing "render to Caesar" and respecting civil authority, read my statement in open court here.

You will never know the power you have unless you get really serious about becoming a saint. Unless you risk something for God, you will never do anything great for God. St. Teresa of Avila said, "You pay God a compliment by asking great things of Him." Just ask him. I guarantee that if you pray the daily perpetual novena everyday during lent here you will hear in your heart from the Holy Spirit. If you pray with all your heart with regularity, especially with daily Mass and holy hours before the tabernacle, fast and give alms seriously, you will advance very quickly toward becoming a saint!

Will you be one of the few? God in his mercy and wisdom and to show his power and glory works always with the small, the lowly, the few in number. Read again King David, and about Gideon in Judges, 6, 7 and 8. Read about Judas Maccabeus in 1 Maccabees. Then read about the apostles in the Gospels and St. Paul. The few, the small, the lowly have overcome the world!

God wants to overcome the world once more. God is an equal opportunity employer. He accepts all his children who wish to become his saints. And he will give any who seriously commit to him, all the supernatural power he promised to those who pledge their troth to him. He made that absolutely clear. In John 5:12 Jesus declares, "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father."

Jesus is talking about supernatural power, about miracles! And when he says "because I go to the Father", he means "I will no longer be present historically, because I go to the Father, and you must do the things that I do in imitation of me".
