A special award will be presented to the family of Bishop J. Faber
MacDonald by The World St. Thomas More Society. In 2008 while retired, he
became Vice President of the WSTMS. The good Bishop was given full
information on my plans to fight the Canadian Government over tax-funded
abortion as early as 2004 after I forced the government to charge me for
failing to file tax returns beginning in the Great Jubilee year of 2000.
Bishop Faber supported me from the beginning, the only Bishop to do so in
public. He not only offered great counsel spiritually, but also tactically
and personally as the case proceeded to the Supreme Court of Canada. In
that final battle he paid the legal fees for Dr. Charles Lugosi, a close
associate of mine and expert Professor of Law on the US and Canadian
Bishop Faber was a dear friend of wife Madonna as well as
our five children for many years. He presided over First Holy Communion
Mass for my daughter Sarah in 2009 and played his violin at the reception.
He gave substantially with two other major donors to pay family expenses so
that I incurred no taxes owing during and after the case concluded. He was
Vice President of the World St.Thomas Society for five years.
Bishop Faber and I went to Rome for the Holy Chrism Mass on Holy Thursday in 2010 with
Pope Benedict XVI. I was able to arrange for the Bishop to participate in
that Holy Mass which was the first time Bishop Faber had ever said Mass
with a Pope in St. Peter's Basilica. At right is a photo I took of the
Bishop in processing out of St. Peter's with all the bishops and cardinals
after the Chrism Mass (click on image for an enlarged view). He is in front of Cardinal Raymond Burke, Prefect of
the Apostolic Signatura, a great leader of doctrinal orthodoxy and world
renowned pro-lifer as well. He gained renown as a great
fiddle player and was a great friend of Natalie MacMaster a world famous
fiddler from Nova Scotia. (See link to National Post article below)
My family and I pray regularly for the repose of Joseph Faber MacDonald as
he would only have it. I miss him every day. In this world, like my own Dad
and Blessed Pope John Paul II, Bishop Faber was my father too. Please pray
for him. He was a very good man.
This YouTube video shows the Bishop in conversation with a phalanx
of reporters outside the courthouse after my final court appearance on
April 8, 2010 just a few days after returning from Rome.
